Live PerformanceAnd to confirm…
General NewsYes, the Proclaimers and I were ‘deep in conversation’… Phil Alexander’s summary of the Mojo Bootleg Barbecue – minus any photograph of me (luckily).
Can we go now?
General NewsThat’s SXSW done now this is what we have learned from the whole debacle….
It is a bit difficult to see any bands what you want to and so you shouldn’t try. I did see however, the hotly-tipped-for-the-next-big-thing, Polly Jean Harvey and John Parish. I then saw some visual spectacular, from Tel Aviv, in the form of the shifting crowd containing Monotonix.
In terms of where I was before that. The Mojo Bootleg Barbecue at the Mean Eyed Cat, This was good for two reasons: Graig and Charlie Reid. Indeed The Proclaimers enjoyed my set at this and they played and it was great. Other highlights were the fun and fantastic Hot Leg. Rolo Tomassi were a great little bundle of energy.
We have walked through South Congress in Austin and then back to watch the bats fly out. This was a bit of a special sight.
Everywhere we have been the soundtrack has been thrust upon us by The Miserable Rich, incessantly busking their way though Austin.
I think it’s time to go home now.

General NewsMore about me.
I’m here in Texas. I listened to the bats chattering under Congress bridge just now before doing a little Black Cab Session here in Austin. I did some noises in with Denis Jones and then a solo ditty which I made myself.
We have also discovered that there is someone who understands in New York. They have written this review of the show I done.
I had a stint at The End of the Road Festival’s little get together here in SXSW – I stank but the Wildbirds and Peacedrums luckily sweetened things up for everyone.
Thoughts for you all to ponder are: Viking Moses and Golden Ghost. A generous and lovely pair of people. The Pictish Trail, a really decent chap. Haven’t bumped into Paul ‘the new beard in town’ Marshall yet but he’s around
Today is the day I grow a year older. Today is the day we do the big showcase for the SXSW people not to turn up and watch. Denis Jones, Tom Brosseau, Sam Amidon, Alela Diane, Liz green, The Miserable Rich, Shearwater
All is well

Live PerformanceNYC
General NewsSo I flew over here yestertime. Man! That ice and shit is so beautiful!
It is a long day though – I left my house at 8am I flew the time playing solitaire on the seat-back console and listening to Kanye West’s terrible album of sad songs sung through some vocoding shennanigans to make it like he can sing, a bit. Turns out I was playing at 12:15am NYC time – which for me is 4:15am time. Long day.
Thomas Bartlett happened to be in town – you know, the cat from Doveman. He played some keys for me. This was a shambles of a show but eventually we got through it. Good to get some sleep.
So now I am on US time I will stroll in NYC for a couple of hours before we have to fly to Austin, via Houston.
See you there then.
Oh, and while we’re at it, this was the verdict on the DTB, Doveman, SamAmidon show in London in January: http://aheartcanstopabullet.blogspot.com/2009/02/david-thomas-broughton-london-bush-hall.html
